From the cross-country ski run to the delivery room: German ex-biathlete Karolin Horchler is looking forward to her new phase in life and her “special job”.
Furtwangen - It's always nice for German winter sports fans when the former cross-country skiing heroes from the biathlon can still be seen on television.
Sven Fischer, Kati Wilhelm, Laura Dahlmeier, Magdalena Neuner and, more recently, Erik Lesser are heard and seen as experts again and again.
But the supporters are also happy when the athletes who do not stay true to biathlon after their career find happiness.

The 33-year-old ex-biathlete is "full of anticipation", as she announced on social platforms.
With a grin and photos, she showed her fans which completely new path she is taking.
And for this she is even celebrated by former colleagues.

Horchler wrote on Instagram: "Student of midwifery.
I'm full of anticipation to learn this special job." She also thanks her old employer: "Yesterday my time as a sergeant in the top-class sport of the German Armed Forces ended.
Thank you for the many years of support as a biathlete.” She is now studying at Furtwangen University and at the Ortenau Clinic, our partner portal Chiemgau24.de also reports.
The native of Hessin is moving to Baden-Württemberg.
A winter sports colleague took a similar step.
