That was a bitter 5-2 defeat for the Schütz squad at TSV Peißenberg.

This is how the coach sees the game.

Peißenberg/Erding - It was probably one of the most avoidable defeats this season.

The Erding Gladiators were at least equal on Friday in Peißenberg and finally even had the momentum on their side, but lost the game due to their own mistakes and lost 2:5 (0:1, 1:0, 1:4 ).

Ultimately, the so-called "special teams" were decisive, because the miners scored three times when they were outnumbered and once when they were outnumbered.

"It was a tough number for us, similar to the 6-1 defeat in Koenigsbrunn two days earlier," said Erding's team manager Felix Schütz in the subsequent press conference.

"We were clearly better at times - which of course sounds strange when you've lost 5-2 - but we made small mistakes in the end." Especially in the first third, his team played very well offensively and scored a lot of shots on goal.

Despite this, the Miners led 1-0.

On the one hand, goalkeeper Korbinian held Sertl superbly, on the other hand, Derek Mecrones converted the first majority game to make it 1-0 (18th).

After a dream pass from Florian Zimmermann, Mark Waldhausen equalized to make it 1-1 after half an hour, and then a crazy final third followed.

Sinan Ondörtoglu gave the Miners the lead (47'), the Gladiators equalized again when Daniel Krzizok deflected a shot from Sebastian Busch (52').

45 seconds later, a Peißenberger marched into the penalty box, but eight seconds later it was 3:2 for Peißenberg, with Dominik Krabbat scoring the goal.

In the 57th minute the Gladiators conceded a bench penalty because a player was too much on the ice, a minute later the next penalty followed.

Peißenberg didn't miss it: Dominik Ebentheuer increased the lead to 4:2 (59 th ) with a 5:3 lead, and 15 seconds later Derek Mecrones fixed the 5:2 final score with a 5:4 lead.

"Mistakes like this simply shouldn't happen," said the Gladiators team boss, who nevertheless praised his team.

"We have shown very good ice hockey in the last few weeks," said Schütz.

"The fact that we didn't get any points from the last two games, even though we were sometimes the better team, is bitter, but that's part of ice hockey." Erding's team boss predicted it would be a long season.

"We have to look to the future, work hard and we will win again," said Schütz.

The next opportunity is next Friday at 8 p.m. in the home game against ERV Schweinfurt.
