The Serbian tennis player who was expelled from the country a year ago collaborated with the Canadian Vasque Pospisil in the Adelaide preparatory tournament, but unfortunately they lost to Berkic and Escobar • Now he will focus on the singles tournament and will meet the French Constant Lestienne in the first round

Tennis fans gave Novak Djokovic a warm welcome during his first match in Australia in nearly two years when he made a rare doubles appearance at the Adelaide International.

Djokovic, ranked 5th in the world in singles, played with the Canadian Vasque Pospisil, and they lost to the doubles specialists Tomislav Barkic and Gonzalo Escobar 4:6, 6:3, 10:5 but enjoyed huge support from the crowd along the way.

As you may remember, the Serbian superstar was expelled from the country before the 2022 Australian Open because he was not vaccinated against Corona and was then banned from re-entering the country for three years.

The ban was lifted in November and he will try to win his 10th career Australian Open later this month.

The match was played on a side court, with the spectators who managed to fill every corner of the court and stood behind Djokovic, with quite a few Serbian flags also visible.

At the end, the 35-year-old actor stayed behind to sign autographs and pose for selfies.

Djokovic will now focus on his first singles tournament of the year, where he will face France's Constant Lestienne in the opening match.
