The German darts professional Gabriel Clemens missed the sensational entry into the final at the World Cup in London.
The 39-year-old from Saarwellingen lost his semi-final duel on Monday evening against Vice World Champion Michael Smith 2:6 after a strong start.
Nevertheless, the "German Giant" wrote darts history in Ally Pally: Before this World Cup, no German had even survived the round of 16 at the season's highlight.
On Sunday in the quarter-finals, Clemens brought world number one Gerwyn Price (Wales) to the brink of despair and triumphed 5-1.
Smith's opponent in the final on Tuesday (9 p.m. CET/Sport1 and DAZN) will be determined late Monday evening between three-time champion Michael van Gerwen (Netherlands) and Belgian semi-final debutant Dimitri van den Bergh.
Smith knocked out Strausberger Martin Schindler in the third round.
