Dorfen – The Dorfen ski club has revived a decades-long tradition and, after a break due to the pandemic, is again organizing the New Year's Eve run.

Chairman Alfons Ben Grundner was able to send 44 runners on the challenging route on Birkenallee at the former Café Findeis in good weather conditions.

A nearly eight kilometer long circuit had to be mastered, which first led up to the Fürmetz-Hölzl and then via Lindum, across the upper Isental valley and back to the start at the Manhart property.

Although no official timekeeping was carried out and the motto "sporting leisure time fun, fun running" was issued, the ambitious men, women and young people, some with competitive experience, but also amateur runners, took up the challenge.

Ski club boss Alfons Ben Grundner (right) congratulated the fastest (front row, from left): Kathrin Böhling, Irene Freymann, Karin Kölbl, Josef Kalb and (back row, from left) Harald Breiner, Niklas Schuster, best of the day Markus Kalb and the youngsters Lilian Süzer and Dario Verbole.

The triathlete Markus Kalb from Erding, a winner a few years ago, completed the course in just under half an hour in 29.26 minutes, followed by Harald Breiner (31.28 min, SC Dorfen) and Josef Kalb from Norlaching (31.54 min). .

The fastest woman was Karin Kölbel from the Erdinger cycling team (35.44 min) ahead of Irene Freymann (38.10 min) and Kathrin Böhling (38.49 min).

The youngsters, who have already held their own in the Upper Bavarian and Bavarian championships, also had a great time.

Fastest was 15-year-old Lilian Süzer from TSV Dorfen (33.38 min) ahead of Niklas Schuster and Dario Verbole.

The sporting event then ended in a relaxed atmosphere with a few runners and spectators, especially since the bakery and confectionery Martins Backstube from Dorfen had once again sponsored pretzels and baked goods.

The ski club organization team around Grundner, Hermann Linder and Hans Decker at the mulled wine fire and a few helpful ladies ensured a successful end of the year.
