The year 2023 begins strenuously for EC Peiting: This week he has to play four times in the ice hockey league.

Twice on own ice.

Peiting

- With two defeats, ice hockey Oberliga club EC Peiting said goodbye to the old year.

After the 1:6 home defeat against the Tölzer Löwen, coach Anton Saal's team got lost 1:8 at the frontrunner Weiden.

"Now we have to try to find our game again," says assistant coach and team manager Ty Morris.

That's why the team was given a training break on New Year's Eve in order to "clear their minds" before the strenuous week with four games in seven days.

The game plan is anything but good for the people of Peiting.

"With such a short cycle, there is simply a risk of injury," says coach Anton Saal.

"I don't understand why you have to play on Monday and Wednesday, the DEL and DEL2 don't do that either.

Tuesday and Friday would have been enough.” He doesn't just criticize this mammoth programme, which started in December with games during the week.

The pairings are also incomprehensible to him.

"We have already played all four games against Tölz and there has only been one game against Klostersee so far."

The Peitingen team will have to deal with the latter team this Monday (8 p.m.).

The ECP is a guest at the promoted team in Grafing.

"It's very uncomfortable to play there," says Morris.

On the one hand, this is due to the partly open ice rink, where it can get really cold.

In addition, the EHC is "slowly gaining momentum, we have to be wide awake", not least because of the 7-0 first leg win, the ECP is the favorite.

The table second comes to Peiting

The contrasting program follows just two days later when the “Starbulls” Rosenheim (Wednesday, 7.30 p.m.) make a guest appearance in the market town.

The second in the table has only lost two of the last nine games.

Two defeats (1:3, 2:5) have been recorded for the ECP this season against the "Starbulls".

"Of course they are a top opponent, although it is uncomfortable for any team to come to Peiting," says Morris - the ECP is strong on its own ice.

Another home appearance follows on Friday (7.30 p.m.), then against Passau.

After a good start to the season, Niederbayern have slipped down the table.

In tenth place, they're fighting for a spot in the pre-playoffs.

"We want to get off to a good start like in the last game in Passau," says Morris.

The good phase of Peitinger with the "Black Hawks" did not last, so that the game was lost 2:4.

defense problems

The marathon week concludes with a guest performance at EV Lindau on Sunday (6 p.m.).

"Since John has been the coach, things have been improving," says Morris about eleventh in the table, where former Peitinger coach John Sicinski took over at the beginning of December.

"Lindau will definitely be well prepared, but we still want to score points there," explains Morris.

In terms of personnel, things are not looking so good at the Peitinger at the moment.

Fabian Weyrich, who was injured in Weiden, will probably miss a few games.

The same applies to Tim Rohrbach.

Whether Marc Besl can play is questionable.

For Sam Payeur, who is training again, an assignment is still too early.

Andreas Feuerecker is also absent from the Rosenheim game.

"It could get tight in defence," says Saal.

And hopes that there will be no further injuries given the program.
