Robert Reisinger has been vacationing in Belek since the New Year, where the lions set up their training camp on Tuesday.

He does not want to comment on OB statements about the stadium...

The professionals from TSV 1860 were able to use the sunny New Year's Day to relax, spend time with their families, clean up New Year's rubbish - or even pack their bags.

Because: Starting this Monday, things will get serious for Michael Köllner's team.

The start of the year, which should bring the ascent, takes place on Grünwalder Straße: strength unit in the morning, first training with ball from 2.30 p.m.

On Tuesday, the lions will fly to Belek (1:10 p.m.) to continue the hot phase of winter preparations on the Turkish Riviera.

The last two friendlies will also take place on the lawns of the luxury Hotel Regnum – on Sunday first against Kaiserslautern (2 p.m.), then against the Romanian first division club UTA Arad (5 p.m.).

The return flights are booked for January 10, four days before the start of the competitive game in Mannheim.

One of the good intentions is to stop the slide in the table - in the last ten games the lions have rarely lived up to their own claims (yield: eleven points).

We show what else will be important in 2023.

Clarify stadium issue

Even before the lions set off into the hoped-for "golden future" (ultra poster), the club should clarify where it wants to play if the sporting best case occurs.

Forever in the Grünwalder Stadion, which would only offer limited professional prospects even after the city was planning to remodel (high costs with a spectator limit of 18,100, which would not do justice to the size of the club)?

Officially, this vision still has many supporters, not only among Giesing romantics.

Unofficially, however, there are efforts to at least examine alternative stadium solutions - without prohibitions on thinking.

Current statements by Mayor Dieter Reiter indicate that there is movement in the deadlocked debate.

"The option of building a new building is alive," said Reiter in our New Year's Eve interview, referring to the meeting in the town hall at the end of November, where high-ranking representatives of the Löwen discussed with Reiter and sports mayor Verena Dietl.

President Robert Reisinger, who flew to Belek yesterday to play golf, was also at the table.

Reisinger's opinion has long been that the 1860 professionals need a stadium "in which we can survive economically".

He did not want to comment on the current rider statements.

When asked, he said: "I'm sticking to what we agreed with the OB: no statements about the stadium summit."

Reiter, on the other hand, confirms three apparently realistic options: 1860 accepts the city's rental conditions, takes over the stadium on a long-term lease or builds a new one on its own - "in this case we have promised support in the search for space".

He also indicates that the tiresome topic could be brought to a close in the near future: "I have hope that we will make a decision in favor of one of the three solutions in the first half of 2023."

Return to the 2nd division

Everyone in the club subordinates everything to this goal.

In view of 18 expiring contracts, one thing is clear: either 1860 will be promoted – or there will be the umpteenth upheaval, with which Köllner would probably no longer be on board (contract is expiring).

The coach is still hoping for a strong eight in order to increase the probability of promotion - the original plan, that Mister X flies to Belek, is unlikely to be followed.

Irrespective of this, it will be important in the 21 games up to the end of May to develop a fighting team on the defensive pillars Verlaat/Morgalla that concede fewer goals than last, use standards better and take advantage of the recovered Marcel Bär's nose for goals.

Even five and a half years after zero hour (crash into the 4th league) it is a sad certainty: The professional operation of the lions cannot survive from within.

Unless there is exceptional luck (transfer or cup proceeds), at the end of the year Hasan Ismaik always has to make up for gaps in the budget by agreeing to the conversion of loans into profit-participation certificates.

It is clear to everyone that this is not a viable model for the future, certainly not for a golden one.

A solution is needed.

Ismaik has announced several times that he will travel to Munich in 2023.

So not only a stadium summit is emerging, but also a course that will pave the way for an economic future in 1860 - one with which all sides can live well.
