Liverpool FC have suffered a setback in their bid to catch up internationally.
After the last two wins, the team of German soccer coach Jürgen Klopp lost 1:3 (0:2) at FC Brentford on Monday at the start of the 19th matchday in the Premier League.
In the lively game with three goals disallowed after video evidence, former Leipzig Bundesliga player Ibrahima Konaté scored an own goal in the 19th minute.
Yoan Wissa (42nd minute) then made it 2-0 for Brentford after two goals had been disallowed for offside.
After Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's goal (50'), Bryan Mbeumo (84') made the decision to make it 3-1.
Liverpool also disallowed Darwin Núñez's goal for offside.
Liverpool remain sixth, with Brentford improving to seventh as a result.
In the Premier League, places one to four entitle you to play in the Champions League, and place five to play in the Europa League.
