Tölzer Löwen only implement guidelines against Deggendorf in phases and lose 2:4

Bad Tölz – The requirements only lasted two-thirds: avoid counterattacks, don't let a manpower situation arise, ensure a lot of movement in front of the goal and lots of shots.

That worked fairly well for 40 minutes on Monday evening, even though the Tölzer Löwen were 1-0 down after a Deggendorf power play hit.

But in the final third they were no longer able to keep the game balanced, lapsed into playing nice in front of Timo Pielmeier's box and were countered several times.

"Ultimately the main reason for the defeat," says lion coach Ryan Foster.

In the end, the Löwen lost 4-2 to the new second in the table and now they have to hope that they can win again in the home game against Landsberg on Wednesday.

It was a passable start against an opponent who was beginning to have problems.

"We didn't allow much," says Foster.

Philip Lehr, who again had the advantage over Josef Hölzl, only had to fend off four shots in the first third.

On the other hand, the Tölzers found their master in rows in Pielmeier, the best keeper in the Oberliga with a catch rate of 92.9 percent.

Nick Huard, Christoph Fischhaber, who was in a good mood in the third attack, Timo Sticha, Erik Gollenbeck and Tyler Ward all failed because of the goalkeeper of Niederbayern.

35:23 Shots on goal, but then countered

But the lions dominated the game, had more shots on goal - a total of 35: 23 - and chances, put the guests under pressure early on with good forechecking and hardly allowed themselves any weaknesses in defense.

But the guests waited patiently for their chance - and took advantage of it in numbers: Thomas Pielmeier's shot was deflected by a Tölzer leg to make it 1-0 - Lehr had gone in the other direction.

Dropped to eighth place

But the lions were only missing a goal in the last third.

However, Deggendorf scored the goal on the counter immediately after the restart.

Thomas Greilinger executed the slot humorlessly.

Nick Huard's Blueline hammer, which Niklas Hörmann Pielmeier exceptionally cheered in the margin, gave little hope.

Because just a minute later Lukas Miculka restored the old lead.

Again on the counter.

And Petr Stlpoukal threw the disc under the crossbar to make it 4:1.

Shortly before the end, Huard was only able to shorten the lead to 2:4.

After the fourth defeat in five games, the lions fall back to eighth place.
