The coach opens the lion year 2023 with a snappy greeting. First decision: A trio is out, not in Belek.

A new addition is on the way.

Plenty of sun at a pleasant 18 degrees.

Robert Reisinger has been in Belek since New Year's and could report that the weather on the Turkish Riviera is even more spring-like than in Munich's warm winter.

The president, a passionate amateur golfer, is on vacation, where his lions set up their training camp for a week (departure Tuesday, 1:10 p.m. – until January 10).

It is important to him that he pays for his stay at the Regnum Carya out of his own pocket. After all, Reisinger was one of the critics of the luxury quarters: too expensive, not fan-friendly.

Reisinger bitingly: "It's at Champions League level, it's not how I understand 1860.

.

."

Experience has shown that the world usually looks different on site.

Even with negative signs, positive things can emerge at the end.

Keyword: "Ghost of Belek".

He even defied the corona restrictions a year ago.

In January 2021, the momentum from the Turkey camp helped the lions get off the starting blocks well.

At least that's how the friendly "ghost" was portrayed.

And this time?

Everything fans should know about Belek at a glance.

Who flies with, who stays in Munich?

"Healthy and successful 2023," Michael Köllner called out to the 80 Kiebitzen when he entered the Giesingen training ground at 2:28 p.m. on Monday to open the new lion year.

Good for him: There are currently no injuries to worry about.

Less gratifying: This causes hardship when nominating the Belek squad.

For Quirin Moll, Marius Willsch and Lorenz Knöferl there is no place in the 28-man squad, which only has one small surprise: U19 goalkeeper Erion Avdija is in a professional training camp for the first time - as keeper number four.

The club's website says that Moll & Co. would "train in Munich in a targeted manner and according to a plan" about the retired trio.

A polite paraphrase for: We don't plan with you anymore!

Does it still work with Köllner's newcomer?

Probably not until departure on Tuesday afternoon, but who knows?

The Regnum Carya has many rooms - Mister X could also follow.

After training on Monday, Köllner sounded very optimistic about the new signing.

According to insiders, a total of 300,000 euros is available for the transfer (total package, i.e. including salary).

Evening program in Belek

In addition to the two friendlies (Lautern, UTA Arad, each on Sunday) and eleven training sessions, Köllner is relying on its standard programme, a cinema evening and a games evening.

Two events that are sacred to the coach to cultivate team spirit.

As in Belek 2021, a trip to the steakhouse is also expected, where the losers of the game night will add to the entertainment and novices (like Avdija) will have to sing.

In a New Year's video, sports director Günther Gorenzel spreads optimism about the planned race to catch up in the fight for promotion.

"The championship will not be decided in January/February, but in April/May," says the Austrian.

His colleague Marc-Nicolai Pfeifer, who is responsible for finances, oracles after reaching the milestone called positive continuation prognosis: “We have one or the other message that we can certainly convey in January.

And what does the investor say?

Hasan Ismaik mourns the loss of Pope Benedict, who was once offered honorary membership in TSV 1860.

"On New Year's Eve at 9.34 a.m. Pope Benedict XVI.

fell asleep forever at the advanced age of 95," writes the Jordanian on Facebook: "He was the first German church leader from a village in Upper Bavaria, not far from Munich.

We are losing a great personality (...).

What made me proud: Pope Benedict XVI.

was an honorary member of TSV 1860 since 2006. May he rest in peace forever.”
