London - Gabriel Clemens has already written darts history.

The "German Giant" was the first German ever to reach the semi-finals of the Darts World Cup on New Year's Day.

The Saarlander prevailed in a sensational game 5:1 against the reigning number one, Gerwyn Price.

In the biggest match of his career so far, Clemens meets the "Bully Boy" Michael Smith on Monday evening from 8.30 p.m.

Darts World Cup in the live ticker: Gabriel Clemens with a sensational victory against Gerwyn Price

In the quarter-finals, Clemens brought the Alexandra Palace to a boil with his constant scoring at a world-class level - and his opponent Price completely lost.

Around a third of the tickets for the World Cup quarter-finals went to German fans.

They provided a "Gaga" home game at "Ally Pally".

Price was visibly struggling with the background noise and in the meantime even came on stage with ear protection - but without any effect.

He went down without a word and a word against the "German Giant".

The 2020 darts world champion then complained about the German fans on social media and then even deleted all posts on his Instagram channel.

Next darts sensation in the World Cup semifinals?

Gabriel Clemens meets Michael Smith

In the semi-final against Michael Smith on Monday evening, some German fans in the "Ally Pally" should draw attention to themselves again.

Clemens goes into the game as an outsider.

The "Bully Boy" was in the final at the last World Championships and is currently fourth in the PDC world rankings.

With his entry into the semi-finals, the "German Giant" will be the first German professional to climb into the top 20 in the world after the World Cup in London.

The 39-year-old is at least 19th in the new ranking on January 4th. If Clemens makes it to the final against Smith, the German will jump to twelfth place.

If the Saarlander even wins the title in the end, he would be the new number five in the world.
