Hertha BSC is contesting its winter training camp in the USA without captain Marvin Plattenhardt.
The 30-year-old full-back is not allowed to enter the United States because of a missing or incomplete vaccination status, as the Bundesliga club announced.
Only "fully vaccinated air travelers" are allowed to enter the USA, there are only a few exceptions, according to the website of the Federal Foreign Office.
»We discussed the topic in advance.
This is not a problem for us.
We take it as it is and will make the best of it.
Platte will train with the U23s and will join us again when we return,” said Hertha trainer Sandro Schwarz before departure from Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER).
Hertha is preparing for the second half of the season
With a total of 28 players, including four goalkeepers, the Berliners are guests at the camp at the IMG Academy in Bradenton near Tampa until January 14th.
During this time, four friendlies are on the program.
"We're looking forward to the training camp and want to take the opportunity to work intensively on key areas: This includes precision in the offensive game," said Schwarz.
The 44-year-old also wants to further strengthen the team spirit in Florida.
Plattenhardt has been with Hertha since 2014 and is a regular there. In the current season he was only injured in two games and did not start.
Hertha is fifteenth in the table, tied on points with VfB Stuttgart in the relegation rank.
