Legends never die.
If King Pelé died on December 29, at the age of 82, the Brazilian footballer was and will remain eternal.
On Monday, more than 230,000 people gathered in front of his coffin, displayed with great fanfare in the center of the Santos stadium, the club where he built his legend.
The day after his death, all the newspapers in the world devoted their front pages to him.
On social networks, millions of Internet users mourned the loss of a monument, even of the "
greatest player of all time
".
It is "
the end of an era
", as it is customary to say.
Even more so than after Maradona's death.
Yet most of those who have spontaneously paid tribute to the "
King
" have never seen him play football.
Pelé retired from international football in 1971 and left his favorite club in 1974, to experience a golden end to his career in the United States.
The under 45s have therefore never had the opportunity to see the Brazilian walking live on a lawn with the ball at his feet.
