Plagued by failures, EC Peiting did well against favorite Starbulls Rosenheim.

And that, although there was the next bad news in the first third.

peiting

- Creativity is currently in demand at the ice hockey league club EC Peiting - not only in the game forward, but also in terms of line-up.

Because with Sean Morgen, Fabian Weyrich, Tim Rohrbach (all injured) and captain Andreas Feuerecker (unable to work) four defenders were absent on Wednesday, forwards had to play on the defensive.

Thomas Heger and Lukas Gohlke took on the task.

And as if the ECP squad wasn't thin enough at the home game against the "Starbulls Rosenheim" with 17 field players, attacker Marco Habermann also injured himself in the first third when he blocked a shot and got the puck in his hand - the 31 -Year-old came to the hospital for examination.

So the conditions were not good for Peitingen in a duel with the second in the table.

But coach Anton Saal's team showed fighting spirit and made things difficult for Rosenheim.

And still lost 0:2.

Konrad Fiedler again with strong saves

Peiting got off to a good start and had chances straight away thanks to Felix Brassard and Marc Besl.

In the first majority game, Lukas Gohlke – who was up front in the power play – took aim, but failed because of the “Starbulls” goalie, Andreas Mechel.

The Rosenheimer could not use their chances either.

Peiting's goalkeeper Konrad Fiedler was in a good mood.

In the middle of the first third, his disc cracked, but he saved the situation himself. Shortly before the first break, Fiedler stretched out and wiped the puck off the line.

Shortly after the start of the second third, the target was in the Peitinger Tor.

A hit?

The referees were not sure at first, so they came together for advice.

Stefan Reiter pushed Fiedler's puck between the pads and into the goal, but he also fell over the goalie and into the box.

The referees finally gave the goal – “a regular goal”, agreed ECP coach Saal.

From then on, his team was chasing a deficit.

But always in excess.

But Peiting was unable to take his power play formation, as Rosenheim defended skillfully.

Friday game on the brink

In the last third, the ECP again started outnumbered.

But the penetrating power on the offensive was missing.

And so Steffen Tölzer's goal to make it 2-0 brought the decision in a game in which both teams hardly made any mistakes.

And so, despite the defeat, there was praise from the coach.

Gohlke and Heger, but also the promoted youth players "did their job well", said Saal, who did not want to overestimate the difficult personnel situation.

"All teams have problems."

Especially the “Black Hawks Passau”, who would be guests in Peiting on Friday.

They had to cancel their game in Memmingen, which was scheduled for Wednesday, due to too many player failures.

Whether the game against the ECP can take place will be decided at short notice.
