Four Hills Tournament in the live ticker today: Karl Geiger missed the third competition in Innsbruck
With just 60 jumpers, Karl Geiger did not make it into the top 50 and was only 51st in the qualification.
After the 108 meter hop, Geiger was 0.2 points short of reaching the final at the famous Bergisel.
The man from Oberstdorf got off to a good start with fourth place in his home country, in Garmisch-Partenkirchen he finished eleventh and thus lost all chances of overall victory.
"That was, woah, intense.
I can't really put it into words yet," said Geiger, completely shocked after his debacle at the Four Hills Tournament: "I really expected a lot, but certainly not that.
I don't know what exactly happened there.
It's really bad that it's not even enough for the top 50." Now at the latest, the man from Oberstdorf can bury his hopes for the first overall victory in Germany since Sven Hannawald 21 years ago.
DSV star Karl Geiger fails in qualifying: ARD expert Sven Hannawald speaks of a "death sentence"
"I would have signed everything, but not that Karl Geiger didn't qualify.
He can do that normally without shoelaces.
I'm really speechless at the moment how quickly it can be that we are faced with such a block," said TV expert Sven Hannawald on ARD.
The last German Four Hills Tournament winner analyzed Geiger's technical deficits and exaggeratedly spoke of a "death sentence".
Geiger was also asked about physical problems after his departure.
"It's a little tight in my knee, but I don't want to make any excuses.
It's not quite ideal, but it was jumping," said Geiger.

Germany's new ski jumping face: Philipp Raimund as the biggest ray of hope
The golden eagle for the winner of the Four Hills Tournament was gone before the Innsbruck station, given the fact that he was 32 meters behind Halvor Egner Granerud from Norway - 51st place is still just as painful.
“It is incredibly bitter that he is leaving.
Unfortunately, that's God's ski jumping.
It can go that fast, then you're stuck with shit," said teammate Andreas Wellinger, who was sixth in the tournament rankings so far and now has to shoulder the hopes of the German team.
The biggest ray of hope in a rather weak German team was once again 22-year-old Philipp Raimund.
Germany's new face in ski jumping finished eleventh with a jump of 121.5 m.
Markus Eisenbichler was also in better shape in 16th place.
"It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but I just have to try to keep going step by step," said the man from Siegsdorf, who became World Champion on the large hill on the Bergisel in 2019.
