Yann Sommer apparently wants to switch to FC Bayern as a new replacement in winter.
A contract until 2025 is under discussion.
Oliver Kahn comes out as a summer fan.
Munich – The trail to replacing goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (36/broken leg) in the second half of the season leads to the foal stable: According to
Swiss Blick
, keeper Yann Sommer (34) is said to have signaled to those responsible at Borussia Mönchengladbach that he wanted to sign with FC Bayern in the winter – until at least 2025. In plain language, this means that the players and the German record champions agree on a change, as reported by tz.de, and should have largely defined the framework conditions.

Yann Sommer wants to switch to Bayern: contract until 2025?
The only thing missing is the approval of Gladbach.
This will finally only be given when the foals have found an adequate replacement and their financial demands have been met.
In view of the fact that the Swiss player's contract expires next summer and his market value is estimated at five million euros, the transfer fee should not significantly exceed this amount.
Curious: With Alexander Nübel (26), the order of the conversation was exactly the opposite: the player publicly pointed out that Munich would first have to come to an agreement with Monaco before making a personal decision about a possible return.
This gives a deep insight into how little desire Nübel really has for a winter comeback in Bayern dress.

Summer change: FC Bayern has to negotiate a fee with Gladbach
If you look closely, a summer commitment is a win-win-win situation.
For the German series champion, because he can quickly present an internationally experienced keeper for relatively little money.
For Gladbach, because otherwise their player would have changed free of charge in the summer.
And for summer, because he can play the Champions League again in the autumn of his career.
That's important for the Confederation international ahead of the 2024 European Championships, where he'll want to be number one between the posts in his last major tournament.

Yann Sommer too small for Bayern?
Oliver Kahn counters
The question remains: is Sommer, who is 1.83 meters tall and ten centimeters shorter than Neuer, able to cope with FC Bayern?

"I'm happy with my size and don't want to be bigger," Sommer said in an interview with the
NZZ
years ago .
Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn (53) said about Sommer's height in a Sky documentary at the start of the season: "It's always discussed how tall a goalkeeper has to be.
Does every goalkeeper have to be 1.90 meters tall?
At 1.83, Yann Sommer is not the tallest.
And you can compensate for that as a goalkeeper with excellent jumping ability.”
This is how Yann Sommer ticks: family man, sunny boy and investor
Away from the pitch, the keeper is considered an absolute family man.
Sommer has two daughters with his wife Alina: Mila and Nayla.
The latter was born during the 2021 European Championship.
Sommer flew to Cologne on the night of June 17th, right after the Swiss defeated the European Championship (0:3) against Italy in Rome.
From there it was on to the hospital.
However, the girl was already there.
