Shortly before the African Youth Football Championship, the chairman of Cameroon's association, former star Samuel Eto'o, revealed a huge problem in the "young" players' squad

Not infrequently, the names of "young" African soccer players make headlines, after the teams they have reached, mostly in Europe, reveal that their age is much older than what was initially presented.

Now it turns out that a similar affair tarnishes Cameroon's under-17 boys team, which is currently preparing for an international tournament in Africa, but is facing a major manpower problem.

The chairman of the Cameroon Football Association, former star Samuel Eto'o, decided to conduct a test regarding the age of all the young squad players, and when the results arrived he was amazed to find that out of the 30 players, 21 failed the age test.

The one who tore the nets in the Barcelona and Inter uniforms, did not believe that 70% of those who were going to represent the country were older than the legal age, as mentioned 17, and went on a vigorous search to find players who would be suitable for the upcoming task.

The race against time has not been kind to Eto, as the tournament opens on January 12 (a week from now) and Eto discovered that 11 new players who were about to join the squad also failed the age test.

"There are very clear instructions," Eto'o said in an official statement, "and we are working to stop the situation that does not respect Cameroonian football. We will urge all coaches and educators to respect the age restrictions in every category."
