Wagner becomes coach in Norwich

Football coach David Wagner has a new job: The former coach of the Bundesliga club Schalke 04 will now be on the sidelines at the English second division club Norwich City.

The club announced this on Friday.

Wagner receives a one-year contract with the table eleven of the Championship.

"It's a great honor to be back in England as Norwich City's head coach," Wagner is quoted as saying on the club's website.

It was a "very special and proud moment" for the 51-year-old.

Norwich already has experience with German coaches. Most recently, today's Gladbach coach Daniel Farke led the club into the Premier League twice, but was unable to maintain the class.

Wagner made his breakthrough as manager at Huddersfield Town, which he led to promotion to the Premier League and then to relegation.

After a good start at FC Schalke, he was released in September 2020 following a negative series of 18 Bundesliga games without a win.

Most recently, Wagner coached the Swiss first division club Young Boys Bern.

Beckham's son moves to England

David Beckham's son Romeo is also trying his hand at English football.

Premier League club Brentford signed the 20-year-old son of the former England star for the second team.

The winger comes on loan from Inter Miami until the end of the season and should continue to gain experience and develop in his home country.

"I'm very proud and very happy to be here," Romeo Beckham was quoted as saying in a club statement on Friday.

Most recently, Beckham jr.

also played in the second team at his father's club, Inter Miami.

Romeo Beckham has been training with the team at Brentford for a while and initially only wanted to keep fit with the north London club during the US league break.

From 2014 to 2015, Romeo Beckham played in Arsenal's youth team before moving to the United States for family reasons.

There, the right-footed player made 20 appearances in MLS Next Pro for Inter Miami II last season, providing ten assists and scoring two goals.

Bochum strengthens itself with customer

VfL Bochum have signed Cameroonian international Pierre Kunde Malong.

The 27-year-old midfielder from Olympiakos Piraeus is on loan until June 30, 2023 to join the penultimate team in the Bundesliga.

As the district club announced on Friday, the agreement includes a purchase option.

“Pierre Kunde Malong is an asset to our team because of his technical and tactical skills, as well as his dynamism and resilience.

In addition to his international experience, the fact that he knows the Bundesliga and has already fought successfully with Mainz to stay up in the league are further plus points that speak for him and his loan,” said sporting director Patrick Fabian.

Southampton sign World Cup goalscorer Oršić

Premier League club FC Southampton have signed Croatian winger Mislav Oršić.

As British media reports, the bottom of the table pays a transfer fee of around 8 million pounds (9.09 million euros) for the 30-year-old, who has signed a contract for two and a half years.

Oršić has 27 caps for Croatia.

Oršić scored the winning goal in Qatar in a 2-1 win against Morocco in the match for third place at the World Cup.

"Mislav is an important addition to our squad and I'm delighted we were able to sign him so quickly this month," said Southampton manager Nathan Jones.

+++ RUMOR +++

Top talent Wirtz will probably stay in Leverkusen in 2023

According to his father and advisor, young star Florian Wirtz will stay with Bayer Leverkusen at least until 2024.

“Of course, every young player wants to play with the best, but Florian is in good hands with Bayer until the 2024 European Championship.

He can still learn a lot of things in Leverkusen that he can't learn from a hodgepodge of established stars," said Hans Joachim Wirtz to the "kicker".

This should also apply in the event that the Bundesliga twelfth, who started the season poorly, misses the qualification for an international competition.

Wirtz, who has recovered from a cruciate ligament rupture and is contractually bound to Leverkusen until 2027, is about to make his comeback after a nine-month forced break.
