Frenchman Stéphane Peterhansel abandoned the Dakar-2023 after an accident at the wheel of his hybrid Audi during which his co-driver Edouard Boulanger was injured on Friday during the 6th stage, announced the organization of the rally-raid.
The 57-year-old driver, record holder for Dakar victories, had his accident at km 212 when he was in the lead.
Spaniard Carlos Sainz, also driving an Audi, "was involved in an accident" at the same location, the organization added.
