ESC Dorfen lost the duel between two upcoming relegation round opponents on Friday evening against EV Pegnitz 3: 5 (2: 1, 1: 3, 0: 1).

And that because of a free ticket campaign in front of over 200 spectators.

Dorfen

- "A 1-0 win would be enough for me," admitted ESC coach Franz Steer.

That would have been done after 30 seconds when Urban Sodja crowned a great solo run with the first hit.

Daniel Sonnenberg soon completed a counterattack to equalize with Pegnitz.

In the power play, Tomas Vrba found the gap to make it 2:1.

Goalkeeper Max Englbrecht had saved the lead with two monster saves during the break.

After the restart, it was more of a used evening for the ESC keeper, even if the people in front clearly dominated the game for the first few minutes.

When Paul Wolf equalized the guests, again after a counterattack, he was powerless.

With Wolf's next goal he just couldn't control the puck and Oleg Seibel's shot to make it 4:2 didn't seem untenable.

The 17-year-old Fabio Lauffer threw a rebound into the net to make it 3:4 as a signal for the final third.

In which only the Pegnitzer set the tone and had the better chances to score.

A penalty in the 47th minute turned the tide of play and the Ice Pirates rushed incessantly, but best scoring opportunities were wasted.

The Ice Pirates certainly didn't have their best day, but they were unlucky a few times during this phase - until Pegnitz top scorer Roman Nawarra sent the puck under the bar with precision work and decided the game.

The Czech had already signed up for the crossbar with a lob.
