The individual championship of the sports bowlers brought various exciting duels.

In the juniors, there was a tight race for gold between two siblings.

District – The sports bowlers in the “Zugspitze” district have again completed individual decisions.

In the final competitions in the U23 class for women and men, there were remarkable results and exciting decisions.

By far the most successful club was Schwarz-Gelb Schongau – five out of eleven medals went to the club.

Surprise success among women

The procedure at the award ceremony should have seemed familiar to two bowlers: Like last year, Michaela Sepp (Frischauf Weilheim) won the silver medal, Stefanie Schiegg (TSV Peißenberg) was again presented with the bronze plaque.

The winner comes from a club that - with all due respect - usually does not celebrate great successes.

Sylvia Winkler from SV Hechendorf made the race, in a sovereign manner to boot.

The player from the men's district class A - where she competes in a mixed team - laid the foundation for her success in the preliminary heat in Seeshaupt with a strong 550 wood (199 in clearing).

Winkler had already achieved the same result in the league this year, beating SKC Kochel 4:2, as a personal best of the season.

Compared to Sepp, the lead after the preliminary heat was already 58 wood.

In the final in Weilheim, Winkler (478), Sepp (474) and Schiegg (471) were almost on the same level, so the ranking did not change.

Schongau triple victory for men

Total triumph for Schwarz-Gelb Schongau: The Bavarian league took all the medals in the end.

The fact that Marcus Wolf was right in front was entirely consistent, because he had scored the highest number of woods in both the quarter-finals (576) and semi-finals (598).

In the final tournament (with scoring) in Weilheim, Wolf also achieved the best score of the day with 576 wood.

In the end, he won with 13 set points ahead of his teammates Christoph Sporer (11 points/566 wood) and Thomas Feuchtinger (10/543).

Sporer - already second in the district preliminary decision last year - had shone in the first set with 161 wood (4 points), but could not maintain the level.

The fourth participant in the final was Manfred Hummel (Schwarz-Blau Burggen), the 2019 Upper Bavarian individual champion.

This time, however, with the exception of the second set (141 wood/3 points), he lacked the necessary numbers of wood to be able to intervene in the fight for the title.

The eventual winner, Wolf, had to endure a difficult moment in the quarter-finals.

Against Christian Röck (KC Oberdießen) he was 1:2 behind after three lanes.

After that, Wolf turned up the heat with 165 wood.

In the event of a tie, the larger total number of woods (576:561) ultimately decided in favor of the Schongauer.

It was extremely close in the quarter-finals between the winner of the qualification, Oliver Zingler (SKV Penzberg), and Christian Lindner (Frischauf Weilheim): With a score of 2:2, Zingler prevailed with a two-wood advantage.

In the semifinals, however, the SKV player lost out against Manfred Hummel.

All semi-finals were decided with 3:1 sets.

Last year's winner, Pascal Schouten (FC Seeshaupt), was beaten by Sporer (1:3/546:564 Holz) in the semifinals.

Equal points in juniors

Not entirely unexpected, due to their performances in previous competitions, the Resch siblings won the title among themselves.

After set points, Ramona Resch (FC Seeshaupt) and Regina Resch (Schwarz-Gelb Schongau) were tied at the end - both had collected 14 points.

In this case, the total number of wood counts, with Ramona (511) ahead of Regina (492).

The third round, in which Ramona Resch took 24 wood from her sister (140:116), had a significant influence on the duel.

Third place went to Anna Steinbrecher (8/392) from SKC Oberau, who mostly played well but lost too much wood, especially in the first set.

Junior title goes to Florian Aderbauer

Two U23 bowlers dueled for the title in the "Zugspitze" district.

Florian Aderbauer (Gut Holz Eberfing) won with 15 set points (485 wood) against Raphael Fried (13/425) from Schwarz-Gelb Schongau.

With the exception of the third round, which Aderbauer narrowly lost (100:110), Eberfinger was clearly better that day.

His success was therefore deserved.
