The player of the Israeli water polo team, Miriam Bogachenko, could not have dreamed of a better start to the new year, after being chosen as one of the 23 most promising players of the year in the world by the world water polo website.

The 20-year-old Bogachenko was chosen in line with athletes from countries that are considered independent in the industry, such as the USA, Hungary and the Netherlands, knowing that in the busy year ahead she will have to prove herself even more and justify the selection.

In the reasons for the decision it was stated: "Bogachenko consistently puts in outstanding performances for her club - Panionios GSS - and was the third leading goalscorer at the European Championship in Split. She is often mentioned as a potential future captain for the Israeli national team. Bogachenko is a player to watch." .

"I am very happy about the title," the actress told Israel Hayom, "I work very hard to achieve results, and this opened the year for me with additional motivation."

It's also a lot of responsibility.

Do you feel like you have to prove more now?

"Of course, the higher you level up, the greater the expectation from you. Of course, I also expect a lot from myself, no less than what people around me expect, and that's why sometimes there is a bit of mental pressure."

Do you feel that you made the leap this year to become one of the best actresses in the world?

"I feel like I'm improving year by year, it's part of the goals I set for myself every year not to stay in the same place (professionally), but nevertheless I still have a long way to go before I consider myself one of the best players."

Israel's water polo team.

There is a lot of responsibility on the shoulders.

What does all this stem from?

"The improvement comes from hard work and perseverance. There is not much rest and there are no long vacations. Focus is also an important part of the process I am going through."

What do you expect from yourself for the coming year?

"For the coming year, I expect myself to continue my personal growth as a player, to lead my club in Greece, and of course to succeed as a team in the goals we have already set for the upcoming World Championships and European Championships in the summer and enjoy the experience in the process."

There are some big goals this year with the World Championship and the European Championship, what will we see there?

"The first championship will be the world championship in July. We will do our best in preparation to succeed in reaching our goal in the championship, which was 8-1 places. It could be a nice achievement. At the European championship after that in October, we will try to screw in the top six again. It's going to be an interesting summer."

And the European Championship is still held in Israel in Tel Aviv.

How exciting is that?

"It's very exciting that the championship is in our country, on our home field. It's one of the milestones we needed to jump even higher in level, in my opinion, and it's even more exciting that all the families will be able to come see all the games, because it's usually one of the longer competitions."

Do you believe it is possible to reach the Olympics in Paris?

"I believe that somehow we will be able to reach Paris 2024. It will be difficult, but it is completely possible."
