Ski legend Rosi Mittermaier has died.
In addition to her husband Christian, she also leaves her children Ameli and Felix, who was also a successful ski racer.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen – The former Olympic champion and German ski legend Rosi Mittermaier died "after a serious illness" at the age of 72 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Together with her husband Christian Neureuther (73), himself a ski legend, the Bavarian had two children: Amelie (41) and Felix Neureuther (38).
Felix followed in his parents' footsteps at an early age and began skiing at a young age, together with Bastian Schweinsteiger, who later became world champion.

As a professional, he was just as successful as his parents and drove to 13 World Cup victories.
Almost four years ago he ended his active career and has been working as a sports expert for ARD and BR ever since.
Now he mourns the death of his mother.
The former world-class athlete "fell asleep peacefully surrounded by family".
So far, not much was known about her illness in public.
Just yesterday Felix Neureuther was still in the expert cabin for the ARD at the night slalom in Garmisch.

Felix has three children with former biathlete Miriam Neureuther (née Gössner).
Their first daughter was born in 2017 and their first son in 2020.
Since the spring of 2022, they have also been parents to another daughter.

How close the relationship was with his mother can be seen in an old Instagram photo, together with his wife, child and Rosi.
It is not yet known whether Felix Neureuther will be used again as an expert in the next ski races.
Of course, at a time like this, family comes first.
So far, the former ski star has not publicly commented on his mother's death.
