The SE Freising wants to defend the title at "his" Freisinger Tagblatt Indoor Masters.

Fun and team building are also important to coach Florian Bittner.

Freising – Florian Bittner can still remember exactly what it was like: Three years ago, at the last SE Freising indoor masters in the Luitpoldanlage, the home side were short of a keeper for a short time.

So the assistant coach who was playing at the time jumped in and stood between the posts.

The result?

The yellow-blacks won their own tournament.

SE Freising: Player-coach Bittner does not have to help out in goal this time

A few things are different today, but many things are the same at the Hallenmasters, which the Lerchenfelder Klub is organizing on Saturday (7 January) together with the local newspaper.

Bittner has risen from "co" to player-coach, and the 31-year-old no longer has to serve as a goalkeeper, that much is already certain.

What has remained, however, is the popularity for the most well-known indoor tournament in the district - all the clubs asked said yes without hesitation.

The Eintracht kickers are also already looking forward to the competition.

For example, Bittner didn't have any problems finding a goalkeeper this time: "Jonas Trost definitely wants to hold on."

Nevertheless, some experienced players will take a break from the Hallenmasters - also because of the risk of injury - as Bittner needs all his strength in the relegation battle of the Landesliga.

"Nevertheless, we're really looking forward to the whole tournament," says the trainer, "and that's why the focus should be on having fun."

Which doesn't mean that Lerchenfelder doesn't want to defend their title.

As a national league, the yellow-blacks are the favorite for most of them.

Nevertheless, the Lerchenfelder have not prepared and trained much.

There were individual training plans for the winter break, some kickers met for a relaxed soccer five.

"It will be nice to see the team again at the tournament," Bittner continued.

Because the own tournament will also be a small team building measure for the Lerchenfelder.

Presence is mandatory, is the announcement from the coach.

Those who don't play an active role are intended for the sale of cakes, for example.

He was curious if everyone would really come.

But: "It's part of a club, you can't just hold your hand."

And who will win the indoor masters now?

Bittner weighs it down: A lot will depend on which players the individual clubs bring with them.

District league player Fatih Ingolstadt is a secret favorite to win the tournament.

Or the hosts judge again - but this year without their coach in goal.
