Improved Tölzer Löwen lose 3:5 after leading three times in Höchstadt.

Höchstadt/Bad Tölz – It was always a reaction to the poor performance against Landsberg.

But it wasn't enough for something countable at the Höchstadt EC either.

Despite being in the lead three times, the Tölzer Löwen lost 5-3 to the fifth-placed team in the Oberliga on Friday evening.

Luck and bad luck alternated.

After a change by coach Ryan Foster - he pulled defender Erik Gollenbeck into the first attack for Justi Späth - there was a lot more movement to the goal.

But in the end the last consequence was often missing to get dangerously close to the goal that Benjamin Dirksen didn't always keep safely.

"We deserved a point, it was an improvement on Wednesday's game," said coach Ryan Foster.

But in the end there was unlucky Sören Sturm and the fourth defeat in a row.

Lead after seven seconds

The goalie from Höchstadt gave the visitors the lead after only seven seconds when he pushed the disc forward behind the goal – exactly on the blade of Christoph Fischhaber – 1:0.

But the Franconians kept scoring the goal at the right time or used their not exactly textbook power play.

Strong teaching saves on the line

Anton Engel deflected Jakob Fardoe's shot from Philip Lehr to make it 1-1.

Lehr was in the box instead of Josef Hölzl and showed some strong saves on the line.

But at the same time there was also some uncertainty when he left his box.

The lions pushed for compensation, shot at goal more often, had good actions.

Oliver Ott spun in front of the goal and finished without a start to take the lead again.

But again the alligators reported back.

Eetu-Ville Arkiomaa hit a slap shot hammer under Lehr's stick hand to make it 2-2.

50:50 game in the final stages

Nevertheless, Foster saw "a lot of good things, we played decently and defended well in the neutral zone." It was again the active fisherman who was ready to score in front of Dirksen on Dillon Eichstadt's pass.

But the disc went into the goal from Martin Kokes' skate.

After Anton Seewald equalized again, it was "a 50:50 game in which the points would have been divided normally" in the final phase, says HEC trainer Mikhail Nemirovsky.

Foster saw "some questionable penalties" that made it difficult for his team to win.

Deadly pass or teammates are missing

Often, however, the fatal pass into the slot was missing, the teammates were not ready for Tyler Ward's passes, or, as is often the case with Nick Huard, they lacked luck in the end.

And it was unlucky Sören Sturm, who had previously shot a giant buck in front of his own goal, failed unchallenged in a solo by Dirksen, and who skated Jari Neugebauer's shot into his own net shortly before the end of regular time.

Foster called a time-out, kept Lehr out and the lions conceded the empty-net goal to make it 3-5.

"We're a bit low right now, we have to get out of it, but I think we took the first step in Höchstadt." However, the lions will have to deal with the sovereign leader Weiden on Sunday.
