For a long time, the puck in the duel of the old masters between SC Riessersee and EV Füssen in the ice hockey league just didn't want to go into the goal.

After the ban was broken, the Garmisch-Partenkirchen team achieved an unchallenged victory.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen

- It was something of a target shooting, what the 1923 spectators got to see on Friday evening at the SC Riessersee game in the Oberliga Süd against EV Füssen.

The white-blue invested a lot, worked, shot from all positions - but the puck just didn't want to go into the goal.

That went on for a good half hour, then Lubor Dibelka and shortly afterwards Alexander Höller broke the spell with a double strike and paved the way for the well-deserved 6-0 home win.

Right from the start there was a lot going on in the Olympic Ice Sports Center.

Initially more in the grandstand, where the fans of the SCR and the EVF provided a good atmosphere for 60 minutes, and then after a short start on the ice as well.

The guests from Allgäu had the first good chance of the game after about three minutes, but then Garmisch-Partenkirchen took control.

“Füssen was very strong in the first third.

We knew they played good hockey.

In the second third we then won more duels and scored goals.

After two or three goals, it becomes a difficult situation.”

Pat Cortina, coach of SC Riessersee

As in the power play, the team of trainer Pat Cortina constricted the table seventh in his zone, "in, in" chanted the supporters in the stands.

But either Moritz Borst, who was in a brilliant mood, stood in the way of the claim in the Füssener goal or the post.

There was a clearly audible "clunk" when Simon Mayr's backhand flick (18th) hit the linkage and it went goalless into the dressing room for the first time.

Dibelka and Slezak score twice

The picture was the same after the break: Riessersee pushed Füssen into defence, pushed for the long overdue lead – and almost caught the goal.

First, Carl Zimmermann missed the disc in the slot (25'), shortly afterwards Leon Dallush rushed away after a long pass, but missed.

Dibelka did better in the 29th minute.

Robin Soudek served Kevin Slezak, who had an eye for the 39-year-old veteran – 1-0 for the hosts, the spell was broken.

Höller raised just 81 seconds later.

After a pass from Sam Verelst, the Tyrolean curled the disc over Borst's head into the goal.

The sports club had finally taken a liking to scoring goals, but failed to close the sack early on at the best opportunities thanks to Slezak and Moritz Israel.

“We made a few unnecessary mistakes in the middle third.

After the two goals we conceded, we still believed in it, after the 3-0 it was over.”

Janne Kujala, coach of EV Fuessen

This was then taken over by Verelst, who wrested the disc from his opponent in the 42nd minute and made it 3-0 before Slezak, after a fantastic pass relay via Dibelka and Soudek, 74 seconds later provided the SCR with the second lightning double strike of the evening.

But the people of Riessersee still didn't have enough, showed no mercy for the staggering, swaying feet.

And so Slezak (53rd) and Dibelka (55th) with their double packs increased the result to the final score.

Game against Passau Black Hawks canceled

SC Riessersee's game against the EHF Passau Black Hawks, which was originally scheduled for this Sunday, January 8th, has been cancelled.

The reason for this are several corona cases in the ranks of the "ice hockey friends" from Lower Bavaria.

The Blackhawks game at EC Peiting had already been canceled on Friday evening.

A new date for the guest performance of the white-blue in the three-river city has not yet been set, but should be announced in the near future.
