ESC coach Tauber: "You just need a goal to get into the game"

Against a strong EHC Königsbrunn, the Geretsrieder River Rats had to accept their highest defeat of the season so far at 0:6 - although they had kept up well with the favorites for two thirds.

Geretsried – It wasn't the evening of the ESC Geretsried.

First the clock in the stadium ran backwards instead of forwards, then goalkeeper Johanna May had to be injured and in the end the River Rats conceded their highest defeat of the season so far in a 0:6 (0:2, 0:2, 0:2) against the favored EHC Königsbrunn .

"It was particularly annoying that we lost 'to zero', and that at home," said coach Hans Tauber junior .”

The ESC coach named the first two goals in the fourth and ninth minutes by Max Petzold and Max Lukes as the sticking points of the game.

"In both cases it was unfortunate for us because it didn't come out of the game," said Tauber.

During this phase, his team kept up well against the technically and running strong Königsbrunner, but failed to convert worthwhile combinations into goals.

In the second third, the River Rats tried to get close, but first had to cope with the loss of keeper May, who was replaced by Martin Morczinietz.

Again it was the Swabians who then extended their lead to 4-0 with Tom Prokopovics (24th) and last year's DEL striker Marco Sternheimer (38th).

"Of course we were lucky in some situations, but we cleared most of it at the back," said EHC trainer Robert Linke.

The guests could also rely on their goalkeeper veteran Stefan Vajs, who also destroyed the best Geretsrieder chances in the final section.

Again Lukes (45th) and Lukas Häckelsmiller (58th) finally made the victory in Königsbrunn perfect.
