The world of French football learned, this Saturday, of the death of Modeste M'Bami, victim of a heart attack in Le Havre, at the age of 40.
The Cameroonian midfielder had spent nine years of his career, the best, in Ligue 1, including three at Paris Saint-Germain (2003-2006) then at Olympique de Marseille (2006-2009).
On social networks, messages from supporters but above all from actors followed one another throughout the evening to salute the memory of a very endearing player.

“My friend, former Cameroonian international footballer, former PSG and OM player left today, rest in peace Modeste,” player agent Franck Belhassen first shared, even before most of the media.
“My Modeste guy… Goodbye”, then tweeted Jacques Faty, a season alongside M'Bami at OM, with a photo of them side by side on the Marseille bench.
“That smile, your kindness… so you Modeste, for his part wrote Habib Beye, who shared the OM jersey with him for one season, attaching to his message a photo of M’Bami beaming.

On Twitter, Sofiane Feghouli, who spent a few months with M'Bami in Almeria, said she was "very sad to learn [son] death", sending her condolences to "family and loved ones".
"Rest in peace big brother," added Moroccan Issam Chebake, who played alongside him for two years in Le Havre, where the Cameroonian ended his career.

The various French clubs that hosted M'Bami during his career also saluted his memory during the evening.
"Olympique de Marseille learned with great sadness of the sudden disappearance of Modeste M'Bami, shared OM in particular, with a black and white photo of the former player.
All our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of our former Olympian.
