Hyères midfielder Almike Moussa N'Diaye, injured on Saturday by Marseille's Éric Bailly, was transported to the North Hospital of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) where he was admitted to intensive care, said the president of the Var club Mourad Boudjellal.
Almike Moussa N'Diaye "was transferred to the North Hospital and they admitted him to intensive care, as a precaution", declared Mourad Boudjellal, adding that his player had previously been taken to a hospital in Martigues (Bouches-du- Rhône), where the match between Hyères and OM was held.
"We pray that everything goes well for him," said the former boss of Rugby Club Toulonnais.
At first, the staff of the N2 club (4th division) had been rather reassuring.
"More fear than harm, nothing serious, maybe a concussion," said assistant coach Zaki Noubir on Maritima radio.
"Bailly quickly came to our locker room to offer his jersey and above all to hear from him," he added.
N'Diaye's injury occurred in the 15th minute of the match, which was eventually won 2-0 by OM.
On a counter-attack from Hyères, he was hit in the chest and at full speed by the foot of Éric Bailly, who arrived late.
