The game at EV Lindau did not go according to plan for EC Peiting.

The team turned a deficit into a lead and survived a long deficit.

Lindau – trips to Lake Constance are not a source of joy for EC Peiting this season: after the 8-1 loss in October, the second away game against the “Islanders” of EV Lindau on Sunday evening was a 6-3 defeat.

Like last time, the ECP was decimated, only 16 field players were available.

Marco Habermann, who suffered a hand injury against Rosenheim, was also one of the absentees.

The "Islanders" had the better start.

Only shortly after a chance for Loris Walter (3rd) was Ace Cowans released – the American defeated ECP keeper Florian Hechenrieder to make it 1-0 (4th).

Several Lindau penalties brought the ECP into play.

With a double advantage, Thomas Heger hit the bar first, followed immediately by Felix Brassard to make it 1-1 (9th).

Peiting stayed on the trigger and subsequently had more chances – outnumbered and with a numerical tie.

Gradually the Lindauers freed themselves;

In a good phase for the hosts, Patrick Raaf-Effertz made it 2-1 with his second goal of the season (18th).

36 seconds before the third break, Heger provided a technical treat: With the back of his racquet, he flicked the puck up past EVL keeper Dominik Hattler to make it 2:2 into the net.

By the way: everything from the region is also available in our regular Schongau newsletter.

And in our Weilheim-Penzberg newsletter.

In the middle third, the Lindauers initially had more target possession and more shots, but without it becoming really dangerous.

After two really good actions by the "Islanders" (29th, 30th), Peiting was there.

First Manuel Bartsch failed with a concealed shot.

Immediately afterwards, Niklas Greil scored to lead 3:2 (31st), whereby the puck had come to the shooter somewhat luckily.

On the other side, the Lindauers were also lucky – Cowans scored on the power play to equalize 3:3 (38th).

Bitter for the ECP: Shortly before the end of the third, Brassard Lindaus checked Alexander Dosch hard on the boards, which resulted in a five-minute penalty.

EC Peiting comes back after 0:1 and 1:2

The Peitingen survived the outnumbered relatively easily, thanks to a good penalty kill and a safe Hechenrieder.

Then a huge chance for the ECP series around David Miller, the puck touched the post.

On the other side, Raaf-Effertz got the puck free in front of the goal and scored to make it 4:3 in Lindauer (46th).

It went back and forth as a result, but the "Islanders" were more compelling.

Then the impossible succeeded: Cowans shot, the puck hit Hechenrieder's visor and flew away in a high arc.

The Lindauer followed suit and took the disc straight out of the air – the score was 5:3 (53rd).

Andreas Farny closed the sack with the 6:3 (57th).

In the press conference, ECP trainer Anton Saal spoke of a "more than 60 minutes deserved victory" for the Lindauers.

EVL coach John Sicinski (formerly as a player and coach at the ECP) pointed out that "there were always phases in the game in which the game could have turned in Peiting's direction".

After the 4:3, however, "we played it cleverly".

For Peiting's coach Saal, the five-minute penalty was a sticking point.

"I guess we all thought: now we're outnumbered, now we'll do it." The goal conceded to make it 3:4 was extremely unfavorable, after that our legs got heavy.

For Saal "a matter of the mind".

In the last quarter of an hour "we had maybe two more chances".

Saal emphasized: "Lindau have a good team." PAUL HOPP
