There was something going on: around 1600 spectators wanted to see the Bayernliga derby between Schongau and Peißenberg.

The winning team celebrated until the next day.

Schongau - "An amazing game." This expression was heard several times during and after the Bayernliga game between the host EA Schongau and the "Peißenberg Miners".

In front of a record crowd of around 1,600 spectators, the district rivals played a high-class, gripping and exciting game in which the "mammoths" turned around a 0:2 deficit to go off the ice with a 4:2 victory.

Schongau's victory "was deserved" - Schongau's coach Markus Ratberger and Peißenberg's coach Stefan Ihsen agreed afterwards.

Ratberger paid tribute to his team: "I'm proud of the squad, what a character they showed." The conclusion was naturally different for the Peissenbergers: "Of course we're not satisfied, we lost the game due to individual mistakes lost,” judged Ihsen.

The fact that the game didn't end 9:7, which would have been possible given the number of chances, was due to the two goalkeepers.

Daniel Blankenburg (Schongau) and Korbinian Sertl (Peißenberg) proved to be absolute support for their respective teams and were deservedly voted players of the evening after the match.

"Peißenberg Miners" with a 2-0 lead in the derby

Because of the large number of fans, the opening face-off was delayed by a quarter of an hour.

Both teams, who were not able to play with their best players, started offensively immediately.

Ex-Peißenberg Tobias Estermaier (2nd) immediately checked his former teammate Sertl.

A little later, "Miners" captain Martin Andrä closed a solo with the 1:0 (3rd).

After that it went back and forth with chances here and there.

Matthias Müller (6th) missed for the EAS, Moritz Birkner in the same minute for the "Miners".

In the first majority that followed, the Peißenbergers struggled on the power play.

The hosts almost managed to equalise: Ryan Murphy (9th) failed to break Sertl.

Murphy then recorded another post hit.

In the middle section, the open exchange of blows continued.

Peißenberg's Dominic Krabbat (23rd) missed the 2-0.

Tristan Gagnon (27th) and Jonas Schwarzfischer (28th) missed a lot of chances to equalize.

Instead, Sinan Ondörtoglu (31') used the guests' second power play to make it 2-0 with a well-placed shot into the corner.

In direct return, Schwarzfischer (31st) was spot on and scored the 1:2 with a backhand shot.

Shortly thereafter, Estermaier and Dominik Ebentheuer fought a heated ring game in the otherwise very fair derby, after which both had to go to the penalty box.

EA Schongau catches up and wins

On the ice, meanwhile, opportunities continued every minute.

Murphy (35th) and Daniel Holzmann (40th) missed chances for the second EAS goal.

In between, Krabbat (36th) failed again at Blankenburg.

And in our Weilheim-Penzberg newsletter.

At the beginning of the final round, the first row of the Schongauer struck: A strong interaction with Murphy refined Gagnon (43rd) with the 2:2.

As a result, a few small changes to the “mammoths” paid off.

Jonas Lautenbacher (50th), ordered by Ratberger from the defense to go on the offensive, gave EAS a 3-2 lead after a precise pass from Florian Höfler.

Just a few seconds later, the guests lost the disc on their own blue line.

Leo Zink (51st) didn't hesitate, his shot went straight into the goal to make it 4:2.

In the last few minutes, the “Miners” tried to increase the pressure.

However, the EAS defense stood solid and hardly allowed anything, even when the guests were outnumbered.
