After a perfect end to 2022, 2023 could not have started better for Alexis Mac Allister.
On the bench for Brighton's game against Middlesbrough (Championship, the 2nd division) in the FA Cup, the Argentine world champion was quick to make the difference as soon as he came into play after half-time.
In the 58th minute, the number 10 allowed his team to break by scoring a superb goal and bringing the score to 3-1.
On a cross shot from his teammate Pervis Estupinian, Alexis Mac Allister perfectly took the ball with a volley backheel, and propelled it into the side net of the opposing goalkeeper, motionless.

A few weeks after lifting the World Cup trophy in Qatar, Alexis Mac Allister was then able to celebrate a double.
In the 80th minute, the Argentinian international finally smashed Middlesbrough by scoring the 4-1 goal.
This time, it was a simple recovery at close range that allowed him to conclude a great collective action, and to participate in the offensive recital of his people.
Before scoring his second goal, he had already hit the post on a free kick less than ten minutes earlier.
"He's a great player"
"The performance of Alexis (Mac Allister) is not a surprise for me, he is a great player", reacted his coach Roberto De Zerbi after the meeting.
“Before the World Cup, I already knew how important he was for us.
He has the quality to score a lot of goals.
He played higher up the pitch today,” he added.
By winning 5-1 on the lawn of Middlesbrough, Brighton qualified for the 4th round of the FA Cup.
The draw will take place this Sunday, for matches scheduled between January 27 and 30.
