After the surprising loss to Lecce, Lazio returned to Olimpico and lost points in a big drama.
Felipe Anderson struck in 1 minute and 19 seconds, following a corner from Luis Alberto.
The Spanish midfielder reached 50 assists since the start of the 2016/17 season - more than any other player who played in the league in those years.
Matthias Zakani scored the second from close range in the 54th minute and it looked like victory was in the bag, but Empoli didn't give up.
Francesco Caputo, Zimek in a burst in the 83rd minute and the Romanian Razvan Marin turned from 16 meters to the posts in the third minute of added time - a year after the 3:3 between the two in which Sergej Milinkovic-Savic equalized in exactly the same minute at the Olimpico.
