Maccabi Haifa's midfielder Chiron Shari will be rested tonight (Sunday, 8:15 p.m.) and will not be included in Barak Becher's squad for the away game against Sektia Nance Ziona
Maccabi Haifa explained the decision this morning: "Sheri has had a lot of work recently, so he will not be in the squad for tonight's game against Ness Ziona. The professional and medical team decided to give Sherri a rest, as part of the distribution and control of the workload in the squad."
As first published in "Israel Today", the Dutch midfielder signed a new contract last Thursday for two more years beyond the current season.
Sherry, who will be 35 this summer, received a contract until the age of 37 and the end of the 2024/5 season, a rare thing in Israeli football, especially when it comes to foreign players.
Sherry said immediately after the signing: "I've been waiting for this moment for a long time because this is my home. I'm very happy to continue at Maccabi and look forward to continuing here with everyone for two more years. This club and these fans have become my family in the few years I've been here. My goal is that we continue to do what which we have done here in the last two years and even more than that."
