Long-range shooter Felix Karpfinger has once again scooped up precious metal.

On the extended Epiphany weekend, the man from Erding competed twice in Freilassing.

With bronze in the Bavarian U19 championship, he qualified for the German championship, where he was even allowed to hang the silver medal around his neck in the end.

Freilassing – Karpfinger, who competes for SC Oberhummel, was only halfway impressed by his performance at the Bavarian in the long-distance competition, after all he was the defending champion.

But this time Johannes Michl from SV Pocking celebrated a start-finish victory.

He continuously expanded his opening distance.

In the end, the Bavarian was 120.54 meters ahead of Kilian Reschberger (116.19 m/EC Lampoding) and defending champion Karpfinger (113.47 m).

"It didn't work out the way I imagined it would as the defending champion.

But it's also difficult because you have the pressure as such.

But in the end it was all about qualifying for the German championship," Karpfinger told our newspaper.

And with the German, "I was definitely more satisfied then".

With 114.86 meters - a better performance than before at the BM - he made it to second place.

He set his record in the first of his five attempts.

Here, too, Michl won (118.97), Reschberger was third (108.85).

At least in this case Karpfinger succeeded in defending a kind of title, because last year he had already become German Vice Champion.

In 2021 he even won gold.

His overall conclusion: "After the German I can definitely be satisfied, podium places are always nice.

I give everyone first place.

Everything was well organized in Freilassing.” Incidentally, Karpfinger was cheered on there by his father Robert and his long-range coach Florian Kloiber.
