2023-01-09T19:55:00.884Z

If Noël Le Graët does not resign from his position as President of the French Federation, only the Federal Assembly of the authority has the

Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra half-heartedly called for him during her press conference on Monday, following the scandal caused by Noël Le Graët's remarks on RMC about Zidane on Sunday evening .

For her, Noël Le Graët has failed in one of his main prerogatives, his "mission of representation" with the French Football Federation, and "it is important that the Comex (the executive committee of the FFF) take full measure in a time of exchange that I invite them to have".

According to the statutes of the FFF, the power to shorten the mandate of the president of the FFF, and by extension of the executive committee, however, belongs to another body: the Federal Assembly, as provided for in the statutes of the FFF.

“The Federal Assembly can put an end to the mandate of the Executive Committee before its normal term, by reasoned decision and in the respect of the adversarial process, specifies article 12 of these statutes.

The Federal Assembly must have been convened for this purpose at the request of a quarter of its members representing at least a quarter of the votes.

The power to dismiss the Comex and its president rests with the Federal Assembly

This Federal Assembly, before which the extension of Didier Deschamps was announced on January 7, is a decision-making body composed of many members, divided in two between the representatives of the non-professional clubs (which represent 63% of the votes) and those of the clubs professionals (37%).

It is this assembly which votes when electing the Executive Committee of the FFF, and which can therefore defeat it.

“The dismissal of the Executive Committee must be voted by secret ballot and by an absolute majority of the votes cast, further specify the texts.

This dismissal entails the resignation of the Executive Committee and recourse to new elections within a maximum period of two months.

In the event of dismissal, the Federal Assembly appoints the person or persons in charge of day-to-day business until the new elected members of the Executive Committee take office.

The president's resignation on his own is also a possibility.

In this case, it is the vice-president of the FFF, in this case Philippe Diallo, who would take over until the end of the mandate.

“The election of a new President must then take place during the nearest Federal Assembly, specify the texts.

He is chosen, on the proposal of the Executive Committee, from among its members.

This election is made by secret ballot, by an absolute majority of the votes cast.

The Federal Assembly, which has just met on January 7 and before which the extension of Didier Deschamps was announced, will meet again on June 10.
