The SEF U17s are among the ten best indoor teams in Upper Bavaria.

A hard-fought second place in the district finals qualified them for the Upper Bavarian.

Nandlstadt – What an exciting indoor district championship for the B-Juniors on Friday in Nandlstadt.

With the SE Freising, which took second place, one of the district representatives managed to qualify for the Upper Bavarian on January 14th in Altenerding.

SE Freising started the tournament weakly – dramatic semi-final success

In the preliminary round, however, the Freisingers did not act very confidently, after a meager 0:0 at the start against Wolnzach, they had to admit defeat to the later tournament winner DJK Ingolstadt with 0:2.

But then there was a 4:1 win against TSV Dorfen and a hard-fought 0:0 against TSV Oberhaunstadt and Unterhaunstadt.

So at the end of the preliminary round it was time to calculate: Because Eintracht and TSV Wolnzach were tied on points, the goal difference had to be used - and that said a goal more for the team from the cathedral city.

The semifinals against FC Geisenfeld, who had won their preliminary group, were just as dramatic.

Although the Freisingers got off to a better start in the ten-minute game, the team from the district of Ingolstadt took the lead - with a seven-meter penalty imposed due to the accumulated fouls, which was only possible in the follow-up.

There was still a minute and a half to play and the final seemed a long way off for the SEF.

But Freising's youngsters didn't give up and reported back in return: Baran Gökay heaved a powerful shot into the net from the right.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

SE Freising competed with the younger generation - coach Julius Kleimann: "That was an energetic performance"

Then it got wild.

First Geisenfeld's keeper parried a Freising penalty before the SEF attachment was allowed to celebrate when Sabbona Kder completed a fine move.

But it wasn't over yet.

Geisenfeld was again awarded two seven meters because the maximum number of fouls for the SEF had been reached.

Eintracht keeper Matea Kostic, however, became the man of the game, defending both penalties with ease.

Then the game was over and Freising advanced to the final after a highly dramatic duel that was exciting up to the last second.

This was equivalent to qualifying for the Upper Bavarian Indoor Championships in Altenerding.

The fact that the final against DJK Ingolstadt was clearly lost 3-0 was nothing more than a side note for the Freising district league team.

Freising's young coach Julius Kleimann was really satisfied afterwards.

Considering that his team had been without training for four weeks and also played with players from the younger vintages of 2007 and 2008 - Ingolstadt, for example, played mainly with players from 2006 - "that was a great success today".

Kleimann continued: "That was an energetic performance." The Eintracht boys now have no specific goals for the Upper Bavarians.

"We just want to have fun and will enjoy measuring ourselves against strong opponents."

TSV Rudelzhausen and TSV Nandlstadt struggle with their performance

The other two district teams were only partially satisfied with their performance afterwards.

Above all, Christoph Geier, coach of the U17s at TSV Rudelzhausen, struggled badly in the end.

The first two matches against Lengdorf and Geisenfeld were narrowly lost 1-0.

"We slept a lot back then," complained the coach.

Things went better after that, but although TSV then won both games against Nandlstadt (2-1) and SV Ingolstadt-Haunwöhr (2-0), it wasn't enough for the semi-finals.

"We had expected more," Geier admitted.

Christoph Huber, coach of TSV Nandlstadt, was in tenth and thus the last place that the home side had after defeats against Geisenfeld (0:1), Rudelzhausen (1:2) and Lengdorf (0:2) and a 0:0 draw against Ingolstadt-Haunwöhr, also not satisfied.

"That doesn't reflect our performance," said Huber, "but our goal tally wasn't good today either."
