A soccer player was released from the Swedish GAIS Gothenburg team after posting a series of tweets in support of Andrew Tate - a network anchor who was arrested on suspicion of human trafficking and sex crimes.

Abbas Muhammad, a Swedish-born and raised Iraqi national team defender, publicly supported Tate after his arrest about a week and a half ago.

GAIS felt embarrassed and published an official statement that they do not share the player's positions.

After Abbas continued to post more tweets of support for Tate, the club decided to end the contract with him - all this about three and a half weeks after he signed with the team.

Tate's story has been covered extensively in the last week in the European media, and testimonies of women who were affected by him are slowly being revealed.

This is a network star who is known for misogynistic and violent statements, and has voiced support many times for those suspected of sexual violence.

He testified himself to be a sexist and, among other things, claimed that "women's place is in the home", that they "can't drive" and that they "belong to men".

Born in the USA and raised in England, but moved to Romania when one of the reasons is that he felt safer there to deal with the legal system.

Tate was banned time and time again from the various social networks for the material he posted on them, but gained millions of followers.

About a week and a half ago he and his brother Tristan were arrested in Romania on suspicion of human trafficking and running a criminal organization.

Publications in Romania indicate that last April the US Embassy in Bucharest alerted the local police that an American woman was being held against her will in Tate's home.

That woman was eventually released, but the Romanian police expanded the investigation and made arrests. It is suspected that the Tate brothers kidnapped several young women to their villa, one with American citizenship and the other with Romanian citizenship, and left them there against their will, where they were subjected to physical and mental violence. The prosecutors also said that they found six women who had been sexually exploited by the suspects.

In recent days, the media, mainly the British, revealed testimonies of women he hurt. Such as Yes, his scandalous statements that may have once remained on his social media pages, have been flooded.
