After hints in Qatar: Müller makes the DFB decision

Thomas Müller hinted at a possible resignation from the national team shortly after the World Cup.

Now he creates clarity.

Doha – The DFB resignation is off the table: Thomas Müller will continue to play for the German national team.

“As long as I'm a professional, I'm always available when I'm needed.

The national coach has to decide when, if and how,” said the Bayern star at a press conference in Doha, where the Munich team is currently completing their training camp.

"I was emotional after the game, it was a sad moment.

I thought about it and was in contact with Hansi Flick,” explains Müller.

It is now a matter of "converting the frustration of the World Cup into energy".

The departure was "extremely painful".

“We have to and want to be able to play football successfully again.

It's less about individual personalities.

The coach has many options," he said.

He is not yet thinking about the EM 2024 in his own country and wants to concentrate fully on the second half of the season with FC Bayern.

Müller faces tough competition at Bayern Munich

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann plans to put Müller in the middle – either behind the top or at the front.

"That's just where my strengths lie," confirms Müller.

With Jamal Musiala and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting he has two very strong competitors there and after his injury misery in the fall he will have to prove himself again.

Müller also commented on the current goalkeeping theater at the record champions.

"The club was faced with a task that is difficult to solve," he notes.

“For Manu it is a total catastrophe.

We'll see what happens.” He expressed his unrestricted confidence in Sven Ulreich: “Ulle is ready.

We have always been able to rely on him.”

Müller praises Bayern colleague Upamecano: "He loves football"

He also found words of praise for his French colleague Dayot Upamecano.

"Contrary to some expert opinions, I thought it was great last year," he emphasized.

“In terms of his personality, he has made another giant step.

He loves soccer.

He's always in the game, he doesn't let himself down."
