A 1:7 swatter set it for the bowlers of VfB Hallbergmoos in Raindorf.

The team slipped down to third place in the Bundesliga table.

– Received a clap and slipped from second to third place: This is how you could summarize the first Bundesliga game of the Hallbergmoos bowlers in 2023.

With 1:7 points, 6:18 sets and 3591:3801 wood, VfB was surprisingly clearly defeated by the new second SKK Raindorf.

Even before the game, it was clear to everyone that it would not be an easy task.

The Raindorfers wanted to show their fans what they can do and started like firefighters in a packed house: Tim Brachtel achieved the best result of the day right at the start and beat VfB bowler Mathias Dirnberger with 4:0 sets and 660:571 wood away.

Mathias Weber only gave Mario Nüsslein one set in the 648:617 wood victory.

Patrick Krieger didn't have the slightest chance against Michael Kotal, who scored the third team point for the hosts with 4:0 sets and 647:579 bowling.

The game between SKK man Milan Svoboda and Lukas Funk was closer.

In 2:2 sets, however, the Raindorfer narrowly won with 611:601 wood.

At least some damage control

So the game was almost decided after four games - and for the last two Hallbergmoosers it was only about damage limitation.

While Bogdan Tudorie was at a disadvantage with 0:4 and 584:627 against Manuel Lallinger from Raindorf, team captain Damir Cekovic saved at least the honor point with the best result on the VfB side (3:1 sets and 639:608 ​​cones against Jan Sandler).

After the encounter, Cekovic bluntly said what many thought: "It was a miserable start to the new year.

Now it's time to forget the game and focus on the upcoming games." VfB team manager Sepp Niedermair was also disappointed with the performance of his squad: "After the team showed such great performances in 2022, we have one with this game made an absolute false start.

The players didn't bring their skills to the track.

It worked well with the throws for the full ones, only the clearing did not want to succeed.”

Niedermair also had possible explanations ready: “The Raindorf fans were like the seventh man behind their team.

And maybe Lukas Funk and Mario Nüsslein were still exhausted from the four-day national team course that took place in Upper Franconia during New Year’s week.” The two VfB Bundesliga bowlers had been invited there – national coach Timo Hoffmann started the sighting for the World Cup in spring.

Irrespective of this, the Hallbergmoos team must quickly find its way back onto the road to success.

Next Saturday (2 p.m.) is the home game against league sixth SKC Unterharmersbach.
