Israel's top scorer, Sergey Richter, will start this week the race to achieve the criterion for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024, which will be his fourth appearance in the Olympic Games.
The 33-year-old Richter, who competes in air rifle, is currently ranked 4th in the world and 3rd in Europe.
He is going to leave tonight (between Tuesday and Wednesday) for two Grand Prix competitions in Slovenia and Croatia - the first two competitions for 2023.
The first competition in which he will participate will take place this weekend in Slovenia in a competition in which 238 shooters from 34 countries registered.
In the second competition that will be held in Croatia a week later, 204 shooters from 38 countries will participate.
In both competitions, Richter will also compete in the mixed doubles competition with the young shooter Olga Tassiev (18).
On the eve of his departure abroad, Richter said: "The preparations for the start of the season went a little wrong for me due to the process of returning to Israel with my family, after six years in Russia.
Only in the last two weeks have I entered into a full and strict sports routine.
As always, I will do everything to succeed."
The shooter finished the year 2022 in first place in the world ranking.
His outstanding achievements were: fourth place in the European Championship in Norway in the individual competition and in the pairs competition he won the gold medal with Tal Engler.
In the World Cup in Rio, Brazil won the silver medal, in the World Cup in Baku he finished in 4th place and in the World Cup in Korea he won the bronze medal.
