The rise of dodgeball, a mixed team sport: "It sets us apart from all classic sports"

Dodgeball, a sport derived from dodgeball, is gaining more and more followers.

Member of the French Dodgeball Federation, Antoine Séry presents the advantages of a sport that is on the rise, particularly in Île-de-France.

What are the advantages of dodgeball?

It's a mixed team sport, it's very important for an innovative sport.

This distinguishes us from all conventional sports.

Our other values ​​are fair play: a player touched must get out on his own, without the referee having to intervene.

Fun: we have fun and we take a lot of pleasure.

Respect: when you hit a player on the head, it is appropriate to apologize.

But from a distance, it goes without saying...

What is the current situation of dodgeball in France and Île-de-France?

In Île-de-France, there are 3 clubs.

The historic club is the DC 95 in Attainville (Val-d'Oise), the club of Vincent Renaud (president of the FDF), founder of French dodgeball, the Licorne of La Ville-du-Bois and the AMD Paris (19th ).

There are 13 other clubs throughout the territory.

This year, we passed the bar of 500 practitioners, men, women and children combined.

We're quite proud of it, it's a first milestone.

Our development is constant, from 10 to 15% per year.

At least two new clubs are created each year, like that of Libourne recently, 50 licensees.

The objective is to diversify to the four corners of the country.

What is the leading region in France?

I would say the greater Île-de-France, expanding to the departments of Aisne and Oise, or even Loiret, with Orléans.

What is the potential of dodgeball vis-à-vis schoolchildren and seniors, in terms of sports and health?

In the "light" version, we could very well adapt our sport to sport-health, but there has not yet been a project developed in this direction.

But it is an emerging discipline whose magic lies in the almost endless possibilities for development.

For the rest, many clubs have been created by people working in extracurricular activities, such as in La Ville-du-Bois or Toulouse.

Personally, I briefed my sister, a teacher, on dodgeball.

She proposed it to her students and it went very well.

They like it a lot because it reminds them of dodgeball, but with an additional “competitive” dimension that children, often even more competitive than adults, love.
