Andreas Budell remains coach of SV Planegg-Krailling.

A lot has to get better in the second half of the district league.

Weakness at home and participation in training annoy Budell.

Planegg – It's no secret that SV Planegg-Krailling has pictured the current district league season differently.

The footballers had to lower their own initially high expectations more and more over the course of the months.

In the spring of 2022, the goal for the 2022/23 season was promotion to the district league.

SV Planegg: From the dream of promotion to the battle against relegation

Before the summer preparations, the demands on Hofmarkstraße became a little quieter for the first time after the team had lost some top performers.

At the start of the season, the head coach at the time, Manuel Eisgruber, finally announced that the SVP wanted to “play up front as best as possible”.

A lot has happened since then.

The Planeggers could not play as well as possible up front in the first half of the season, at the winter break they were in tenth place in the middle of the relegation battle with just one point ahead of the relegation places.

And the coach is different too.

Eisgruber had to retire from his coaching post after suffering a severe herniated disc.

Andreas Budell: From stepping in as an assistant coach to a permanent solution

Initially, assistant coach Andreas Budell took over sporadically until Eisgruber returned as hoped.

At the end of September, halfway through the first half of the season, when there was still no improvement in his health, Eisgruber asked him to get down to business and terminate his contract.

Budell was declared caretaker coach at least until the winter break.

Now it's clear: "We stuck to the decision," announced Martin Woytalla, sporting director of the SVP.

Budell is to continue until the end of the season, supported by Martin Bauer as playing assistant coach and supervisor Christian Zercher.

Sporting director Woytalla: "It's not up to the coach, it's up to the team"

"He knows the team, so we didn't actively look for another coach," says Woytalla and makes it clear: "The fact that we are in the current situation is not due to the coach, but to the team."

For Budell and his coaching team it is important to at least bring the bad season to a happy end.

Relegation is now the goal.

And it should get into dry cloths as quickly as possible.

SV Planegg: Good against top teams, bankruptcies against most of the district league

The Black and Blues should build on the encouraging performances in the first half of the season, which were rare but still there.

In particular against the top teams FC Wacker, DJK Pasing and MTV Munich, against whom a total of five points – including the win against Wacker at the green table – jumped out.

"But we almost lost against the midfield teams across the board.

We were perhaps always a bit less focused and motivated than against the top teams," complained Budell.

Extreme home weakness big shortcoming of SV Planegg-Krailling

In order to be in the necessary form by the start of mid-March against direct competitor TSV Gräfelfing, he is counting on a seven-week preparation period starting January 31 with six friendlies.

Among other things, fitness should be worked on.

One or the other player lost this before the winter break.

Budell sees this as one of the main reasons for the poor number of points – especially at home.

So far, the SVP is the second-worst home team in the district league 2. In seven games on Hofmarkstrasse, they have not won, only three points were the result.

"Our main pitch is very deep," explains the head coach.

Good fitness is essential.

SV Planegg: those responsible call for better participation in training

Budell would also like to see an increase in participation in training.

As does Woytalla, who makes it absolutely clear: "If you don't train, it's not enough for the district league either."

Budell says that he has already had some discussions with the players regarding his enthusiasm for training.

"Everyone shows understanding, but sometimes you have to overcome your weaker self," said the coach.

"I hope that a jolt goes through the team."

Planegg pulls up four players in Erste - including an ex-Bayernliga striker

Mainly because four players from the reserve will be promoted to the first: Stefan Suchanke, Niek Khazali, Ludwig Wallner and Michael Würstl.

Christoph Rainer will only be used sporadically for long stretches of the first half of the season.

He moved to Lower Bavaria and has a second game right with SVP.
