The Competition Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has rejected this Wednesday the challenge of the Barcelona-Espanyol league derby, requested by the club for an alleged improper alignment of Robert Lewandowski.
The Polish striker for Barça played in the game on matchday 15 of the League that ended in a draw (1-1) on December 31, despite being banned for three games due to his sending off against Osasuna in the last match before the world cup break
He did it because he received the injunction from ordinary justice, to which Barça had appealed.
"The player's lineup was ultimately covered by the court decision," the Competition has alleged to reject the appeal of the blue and whites.
Lewandowski was sent off against Osasuna for double booking and was punished with two more games off the pitch for making gestures that the Committee understood to be "inconsiderate" towards the referee.
Espanyol will resort to Appeal without ruling out future actions in case the appeal is not attended, according to Cadena SER.
The parakeet club argued before the RFEF that Lewandowski should have served a one-match ban for his double warning, excluding from the equation the penalty that he received for his gestures after the expulsion.
Despite the fact that Barça presented all possible allegations to reduce the penalty for its striker, the Court of Arbitration for Sport ended up ratifying the three-game punishment on January 4, which began last Sunday against Atlético de Madrid.
