Mahmoud Al-Shughri started practicing bodybuilding 24 years ago, and during his career in the game he achieved many titles in local and international championships, and his ambition is to win more titles at the global level.
In a statement to SANA, Al-Shughri, 43, said: “I started practicing sports through the game of karate, so I graduated with its age groups, and I got advanced positions in many championships of the Republic, and I got a black belt, and in 1997 I moved to the body building game under the supervision of coach Khaled Al-Lubni, and I managed Three years after winning the gold medal with the first participation in the Republic Championship, and I maintained this achievement the following year by achieving first place in the Republic Cup and first-class clubs, and I passed the national team selection experiences in 2002.
Al-Shughri continued, “I won second place in the Arab Championship in Iraq in 2002, second place in the Mediterranean Championship in Egypt in 2002, first place in the Mediterranean Championship in Egypt also in 2004, and bronze in the Qatar Open Cup in 2005.”
Al-Shughri pointed out that he had stayed away from participating in tournaments as a player for several years, but he returned strongly in 2019, and won the silver of West Asia, which was held in Bahrain in the Masters category, the bronze of the Classic category, and the bronze of the World Championship, which was held in the United Arab Emirates, indicating that his most important achievement during the past two years is The gold medal of the Asian Cup held in Beirut in the Masters category, and the gold of the World Championship held in Iran in the classic category.
Al-Shughri concluded his speech that he is currently preparing to participate in the upcoming world championship, and his ambition is to stand on the international podiums, and to raise the Syrian flag in this important forum for every athlete.
