The SG Eichenfeld played a strong tournament at the Donau/Isar indoor district championship for the U15 juniors and only just missed qualifying for the Upper Bavarian.

Zolling – When the indoor district champions Donau/Isar of the U15 juniors were played, the Freising teams were already taking a shower.

However, the SG Eichenfeld didn't miss much for a big surprise.

After winning the group, however, it was a bit unfortunate that they ended up in the semi-finals.

The first task of the day was for tournament director Nicoletta Horn, who had to reorganize the tournament.

The SG Eitensheim/Buxheim had canceled at short notice due to a lack of players, so that it was no longer possible to organize a replacement.

On the day of the tournament itself, SV Ingolstadt-Haunwöhr stayed away without warning.

It's not the first time that clubs from the Ingolstadt area have let the tournament organizers - and thus other teams - down.

"Unfortunately, not everyone has the same reliability as the Freisinger or Erdinger clubs," regretted Horn.

Since the two absent teams weren't in the same group, their absence was relatively easy to make up for.

Contrary to the original plan, all placements were then played out for the omitted games in the group phase.

Each club had at least four games.

The smaller field was also a problem for the good organizer of SpVgg Zolling, as they had adjusted to ten teams when looking after the guests.

The SG Eichenfeld played a really good tournament, which got the semi-final ticket with two wins at the start.

"We played the first two games really well," praised coach Fabian Biedermann.

Eight goals in two duels were an announcement.

This meant that you could avoid the defending champion, top favorite and eventual winner DJK Ingolstadt in the semi-finals.

The 1-0 defeat in the last group game against Zolling was a warning shot that there are no easy successes in the hall.

"That helped us because the semifinals were better again," said the coach.

However, the Eichenfelder had the misfortune of having to chase two quick goals.

In the end, the necessary bit of luck was missing for the comeback.

The final 0:3 in the small final against Scheyern was quickly over - the air was gone.

In the placement games, the other two representatives from the district then dueled in the game for seventh place with SpVgg Zolling and FC Moosburg.

Zolling was fourth in the group - only three points behind the first.

Coach Rainer Gebele regretted that the key game to reach the semi-finals went completely awry with the 4-0 loss to Scheyern.

The hosts conceded three goals in three minutes – the game was over.

The Moosburger C-Juniors finished last in the other preliminary round group with just one success, but that wasn't a broken leg.

Many kickers played futsal for the first time in their lives and were therefore not used to the rules and special features.

"We have paid Futsal tuition," said coach Martin Kästner.

The placement game between the two district teams was then exciting: SpVgg quickly took the lead and missed further big chances.

Shortly before the end, the Moosburgers countered to make it 1:1 – it went to a penalty shoot-out.

In the six shots, the Moosburgers hit the post once, which meant victory for Zolling.

The four referees Stephan Fox (SV Marzling), Stephan Wagensohner (SpVgg Mauern), Gerhard Bille (FC Neufahrn) and Andy Löffler (SV Langenbach) were in action.

They had no problems with the fair games.
