It's not just for men: in the future, women will also wear the jerseys of the Brucker TuS football team.

The American Footballers of TuS Fürstenfeldbruck want to expand their offer.

In the future, women and girls should also be able to practice US sports.

Fürstenfeldbruck – Football is a sport for tough men.

That's probably the common opinion when the big boys with their thick gaming equipment crash into each other.

But there are also women who indulge in America's national sport.

The Fursty Razorbacks therefore now want to create a girls' and women's team.

A little more than 30 women's teams are currently organized in Germany in game operations.

At a good 20 clubs, a team is also being set up.

The Brucker TuS footballers have now joined this list.

Having recently founded a second men's team, they are now taking the next step.

"We want to continue to grow as a department and offer a broader range of people the opportunity to practice sport and participate in the club," says department head Lukas Dohrmann.

Tryouts planned for spring

The idea of building a women's team has existed for a long time.

Now the Bruckers are getting down to business.

However: "We are still in the planning phase." First of all, it is necessary to examine how another team can be supported with their coaches and the usually large squad strengths in football.

After all: "There are already people in the association who want to get involved in the project," says Dohrmann.

A first attempt is to be made this year.

However, there is still no talk of game operations.

"There are still some question marks," says Dohrmann.

One of them: Can you find enough players?

To find the answer, the Razorbacks want to organize a trial session where interested women can try out the sport and get to know the club.

Searching for names for the team is ongoing

"We want to check the response," says Dohrmann.

He's in good spirits about this.

"There are already women's teams in the Munich area," he says.

Among other things, the Munich Cowboys have a first division team, and a team is being set up in Erding.

There are also Bavarian teams in Erlangen and Kempten.

"I can therefore imagine that there is interest in a team in Bruck."

The trial will take place in the spring.

"Probably in the period between March and May - maybe a little earlier," says Dohrmann.

Depending on the response to the project.

By then it should also be clear under which name the team should play.

The Razorbacks have started a corresponding call on social media.

Some suggestions so far: Red Diamonds, Razorbees, Lady Hogs or – like the gentlemen – just Razorbacks.
