No way: the Bayern star's comeback plan is already in place

Recently, rumors have been circulating about Manuel Neuer's injury, and there was even talk of a career end.

The Bayern captain remains calm.

Munich/Doha – Manuel Neuer's (36) serious injury is still causing Bayern headaches.

The record champions' retinue is currently in Qatar, the host country of the World Cup, to prepare for the second half of the season in mild temperatures.

Meanwhile, Neuer shows up with crutches on Säbener Straße.

Nobody really knows how long Neuer will actually be out with his injury (broken tibia and fibula).

One thing is clear: the Bayern captain will not be able to play again this season.

But even an injury-related career end does not seem impossible, according to rumors.

While the Bayern bosses around sports director Hasan Salihamidzic (46) are running out of time to find a successor for at least the rest of the season, Neuer is focusing on his comeback – and has clear goals.

As the

reports, the former world goalkeeper is working meticulously on his comeback.

For him, leaving as an active player is not an option, he definitely wants to go back to the Bayern goal.

Neuer wants to be ready for action again in time for the start of the 2023/2024 season.

A rehabilitation plan worked out by doctors and physios should help the old star.

Complicated goalkeeper question at Bayern: Neuer returned from serious injuries in 2019

At that point, Neuer would already be 37 years old.

The Bayern keeper has already proven that he can regain his old strength after a serious injury.

This is what happened in 2019, when the captain silenced his doubters and became the undisputed number one again after two metatarsal fractures and muscular problems.

However, it is uncertain whether the plan will work again in Neuer's old age.

For the Bayern bosses, the goalkeeper question is even more complicated.

Putting off a deserved leader like Manuel Neuer by signing a goalkeeper with a long-term claim as number one - even with Neuer's recovery?

Hardly imaginable.

FC Bayern: Nübel unlikely to return – substitute keeper Ulreich out of the race

, Alexander Nübel (26) does

not seem completely averse to being number one in the Bayern goal for the second half of the season.

But the keeper, who was loaned out to AS Monaco, has categorically ruled out a return to the second tier behind Manuel Neuer.

A return for only six months is out of the question, and negotiations with the Monegasque are difficult.

Substitute keeper Sven Ulreich (34) is probably not an option as the new number one.

So everything boils down to an interim solution – and it should be called Yann Sommer (34).

The experienced Gladbach keeper would fill the gap and might also be willing to move into second place if there was a new return – whenever it is.

In the event of Neuer's final departure, a young successor could then be committed as the long-term number one.

FC Bayern still far from Gladbach's demands

Bayern are currently still far behind the demands of Borussia with their bid of 5 million euros, as

expert Florian Plettenberg reports.

But should the deal with Borussia Mönchengladbach and Yann Sommer burst, FC Bayern will need another candidate.

It is not yet known who that should be.

However, the Bayern bosses have to hurry: the second half of the season starts in Leipzig on January 20th.

By then a new number one should have been found.
