The athletes from SC Garmisch and SC Partenkirchen secured three victories and two German championship titles in the four home slaloms on the Gudiberg.

Luisa Mangold and Nickco Palamaras in particular stand out.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen

– At the night slalom on the Gudiberg a few days earlier, it still didn't come, the victory of a local hero.

Admittedly, Adrian Meisen's chances of taking the piste with start number 66 were negligible, practically zero.

The youngsters in Garmisch-Partenkirchen were able to celebrate three home successes.

In the slalom races last weekend, which served as the framework for the German U18 and U21 youth championships, Luisa Mangold and team colleague Nickco Palamaras from the Garmisch Ski Club made it to the top of the podium.

For the 18-year-old Palamaras, the victory also meant the German championship title in the U21s of the years 2003 and 2004.

"If you put on the Werdenfelser glasses, the weekend went very well."

Markus Anwander, head of the federal base in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Mangold's first place in the overall result was of no importance in the fight for the national titles, at the age of 22 she has already outgrown the junior classes - which should in no way diminish her success.

“It was a very good performance.

With the points she has collected, she has taken a step forward in the world rankings,” says a satisfied Markus Anwander, manager of the federal base in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Especially since Mangold also won the subsequent FIS races on the Gudiberg.

The local double success for women and men almost happened there as well.

But Linus Witte from SC Bad Aibling, who clinched victory ahead of Palamaras and Simon Luca Wolf (SC Garmisch) and Dominik Zerhoch (SC Partenkirchen), who were eliminated in the first race, thwarted that.

Race relocated to the Gudiberg at short notice

"If you put on the Werdenfelser glasses, the weekend went very well," summed up Anwander.

What he's referring to: The strong results of the local riders with podiums in all age groups at the youth championships.

In addition to Palamaras in the U21s, Felix Norys secured SC Garmisch's second championship title in tenth place overall in the U18s of the years 2005 and 2006.

In the women's U21s, Marie Bogner and Sophia Sturm (both SC Partenkirchen) were only beaten by Lara Klein, who started for SC Lenggries.

Antonia Reischl, also from the SCP, raced to third place in the U18s.

Doubly successful on the Gudiberg: Luisa Mangold from SC Garmisch snagged victory in the slalom as part of the German championship and in the FIS race.

The fact that the four races on Saturday and Sunday took place at all on the Gudiberg happened at short notice.

Because actually should be started at the Jenner in Berchtesgaden, but there was a lack of snow.

The request only came on Thursday, and the helpers then used water and salt to repair the slope, which had been battered by the night slalom the day before, within two days.

“Since there is nowhere else to drive at the moment, we gave everything again.

That has paid off.

I think the races have brought young people in Germany a step forward,” says Anwander.
