The first season of

Formula 1: Drive to Survive

, launched in 2019, was a major success for Netflix, attracting a new, younger audience.

In the United States,

ESPN

, which broadcasts the F1 season, broke audience records during the 2022 season.

Formula 1

success playing a certain role in this renewed interest in the paddocks.

Tennis, which would like to inflate and rejuvenate its audience, dreams of the same promotion, with

Break point

, documentary series produced by the same production company Box to Box film.

The teams followed the men's (ATP) and women's (WTA) circuits throughout last season, notably during the four Grand Slam tournaments.

The first five 60-minute episodes cover the first part of 2022 until Roland-Garros.

The other five will be released starting in June.

No Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic on the program.

The documentary series, however, brought together a cast of choice with a dozen rising stars like Félix Auger-Aliassime, Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Iga Swiatek or Ons Jabeur.

In immersion, in locker rooms or in hotel rooms,

Break point

has the ambition to show behind the scenes and to enter into the intimacy of the actors of the highest level.

The first episode recalls the essential rules of tennis.

No wonder since the objective remains above all to attract a new audience, unfamiliar with the little yellow ball.

The brilliant and divisive Nick Kyrgios is the central character of the first episode shot at the Australian Open.

In episode 4, Spanish player Paula Badosa talks about mental health while world number two Ons Jabeur recounts the struggles she faced to reach the top as an Arab woman.

The Canadian daily

La Presse

tells us that episode 5, devoted in particular to Quebec star Félix Auger-Aliassime, looks back on the duel of the 6th player in the world against Rafael Nadal in the round of 16 at Roland-Garros (defeat in 5 sets) and the strange climate that reigned behind the scenes concerning the presence or not of Toni Nadal in the stands.

The uncle of the king of Roland-Garros had refused to go to the box of his player Auger-Aliassime while publicly wishing a victory for his nephew….

Serena Williams' ex-coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, stigmatizes Toni Nadal's lack of professionalism in front of the cameras.

If this kind of tasty anecdote could make (a little) the buzz in the cozy little world of tennis,
